"The commander-in-Chief of the Navy noted that the frigates of this project are the most modern warships of Russia and will become the first full-time carriers of hypersonic missile weapons, the tests of which will be completed this year by the lead frigate of the project 22350" Admiral Gorshkov of the Fleet of the Soviet Union, " the press service said.
The information was spread in connection with the arrival of the frigate "Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov" in Severomorsk after a long campaign. The ceremony was attended by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Nikolai Evmenov.
The long-range cruise of the newest Russian frigate "Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov" started on December 30. For more than two months, the ship conducted activities in the Mediterranean Sea, during which it visited the ports of Algeria, Greece, Egypt, Cyprus, Syria and Turkey, as well as conducted a series of exercises in a single order and in cooperation with other ships and aircraft of the Russian Navy. At the last stage of the campaign, the frigate participated in an interspecific command and staff exercise to resolve crisis situations in the Arctic.
In 2020, the Ministry of Defense told about the successful tests of the world's first hypersonic missiles "Zircon" to equip warships. They were launched several times from the frigate project 22350 "Admiral Gorshkov".
