The control check of combat readiness of more than 15 thousand servicemen of the Guards Tank Army of the Western Military District for the winter training period was successfully completed. The exercises were held on the territory of the Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Smolensk, Yaroslavl, and Ivanovo regions.
Tank, motorized rifle, reconnaissance, anti-aircraft missile, artillery and missile units performed more than 4 thousand combat firings and worked out the reflection of the attacks of the imaginary enemy in the daytime and at night.
In a number of exercises, more than 3 thousand units of military and special equipment of the ZVO tank association were involved: T-72B3, T-80, T-90 tanks, BMP-2, BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, BTR-80, BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, Msta-S self-propelled artillery units, Msta-B towed howitzers, Sani mortars, and other military equipment.
On April 22, combat crews of the anti-aircraft missile and gun complex "Pantsir-S" of the Leningrad Association of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Western Military District (ZVO) in the Astrakhan region at the Ashuluk training ground conducted live firing in motion, which took place as part of a control check for the winter training period.
