The Chinese Navy conducted maneuvers in the South China Sea. On April 17, a video of the PLA Navy carrier strike group led by the aircraft carrier Liaoning in the Western Pacific Ocean, taken from the USS Mustin destroyer of the US Navy, appeared online.
The Chinese carrier strike group consisted of an unidentified strategic nuclear submarine, the aircraft carrier Liaoning, the ocean-going integrated supply ship Hulunhu, the Project 055 destroyer Nanchang, the project 052D destroyer Chengdu, the Project 052D destroyer Taiyuan, and the Project 054A frigate Huanggang.

The video shows the moment when a Chinese J-15 fighter jet landed on the Liaoning . Several destroyers that accompanied the aircraft carrier were also caught in the frame.
"Despite the presence of the American ship, the Liaoning continued the exercises as usual, demonstrating the confidence and high skills of both sailors and pilots, which indicates a high level of combat readiness," a Chinese military analyst anonymously told the Global Times. According to him, the American ship did not pose any danger to the Chinese Navy, as while it was watching the aircraft carrier, the Chinese military was watching it.
