One of the four B-1B bombers of the US Air Force participating in the support mission to Norway broke down.
According to The Drive portal, a US Air Force B-1B bomber from the 7th Bombardment Wing suffered serious engine damage in Norway. And although the mission of these four aircraft ended in March, the accident was officially announced only on April 16.
"During a recent deployment to Norway, the B-1B did have engine damage, but this incident is still under investigation and we are unable to provide further information at this time," said Technical Sergeant David Scott - Gogan of the 7th Bombardment Wing.
Meanwhile, it is known that in connection with this incident, Lieutenant Colonel Kristen Shadden, who was responsible for the 7th Squadron, was dismissed. She was removed from her position with the wording "due to a loss of confidence in her ability to command."
Sources also told the publication that the cause of the breakdown was a tablet computer that got into one of the engines, which caused significant damage. As a result, it was necessary to replace both engines on one side of the aircraft.
