The strategic nuclear submarine of the project 955A of the Borey-A class "Prince Oleg "will be ready for transfer to the Russian Navy in October, the General Director of the United Shipbuilding Corporation Alexey Rakhmanov said in an interview with RIA Novosti on April 15.
The submarine will be the fifth in this project in the combat composition of the Russian Navy.
During their construction of the Borey-A class submarines, new achievements were applied in the creation of shipboard radio-electronic means, reducing noise. The main armament of these submarines was the Bulava complex.
The length of the submarine is 170 meters, the width is 13.5 meters, it dives to a depth of 450 meters. The construction is being carried out by the Sevmash defense Shipyard.
As reported in February, the Russian Navy will receive two serial diesel-electric submarines of the fourth generation of the project 677 "Lada" — "Kronstadt" and "Velikiye Luki" — in 2022. The first submarine of the Lada project was launched in 2004. The submarine completed the tests and entered pilot operation in 2010.
