The Ukrainian authorities intend to build at least two cartridge factories in the country, Alexey Arestovich, adviser to the Kiev delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group on the Donbas, said on April 14.
"There are plans to build at least two factories. Because we can't do it alone. One is very vulnerable, it is necessary to duplicate it, " he said on the TV channel "Ukraine 24".
According to Arestovich, the creation of both enterprises will take from two to three years.
According to RIA Novosti, there are currently no factories producing cartridges in Ukraine. Previously, this was done by the Luhansk Cartridge Factory, but in 2014 it came under the control of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR).
In June 2020, it became known that the latest Ukrainian self-propelled mortars "Bars-8MMK", produced by the concern "Ukroboronprom", were not combat-ready. The country's Defense Ministry refused to accept the shipment of guns.
