To date, the water intake, built in the Republic of Crimea by the forces of the Military Construction Complex of the Russian Defense Ministry, has transferred more than 1 million tons of fresh water to the city waterworks of Sevastopol.
Thanks to the launch of the new water intake, it was possible to reduce the daily water intake from the Chernorechensk reservoir, which is the main source of water supply for Sevastopol, by more than three times.
In just 115 days, military specialists have created a unique hydrotechnical complex in the Crimea to provide water to the residents of Sevastopol. The water intake was built in the lower reaches of the Belbek River eight kilometers before the river's confluence with the Black Sea.
The complex includes a storage pool with a capacity of 150 thousand cubic meters, a storage pool, a dam, a hose for delivering water to the Dnieper water pipeline, pumping stations, as well as a complex of water supply and local treatment facilities, including equipment for cleaning wash water, storm water and domestic wastewater with accumulating underground reservoirs.
The construction of the new water intake was carried out by the Russian Defense Ministry on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation to ensure uninterrupted water supply to the city of Sevastopol.
