According to the CSBC, the construction of the DVKD is part of the state policy for the development of the national shipbuilding industry. The maximum speed of the course will be 21 knots, the range of navigation-7,000 nautical miles at a speed of 13 knots. As stated, the main task of "Yushan" will be to ensure the landing of troops on the island territories and the evacuation of units. The DVKD can also be used as a floating hospital, to provide assistance to victims of natural disasters and to support international humanitarian aid operations.
According to the Ministry of National Defense of Taiwan, the DVKD can transport amphibious tracked armored personnel carriers AAV-7, landing boats, HUMMER armored vehicles and 673 paratroopers. The ship will also be equipped with 6-7 artillery systems and Sea Sword anti-aircraft guided missiles for self-defense.
As previously reported, the project of the Taiwanese DVKD was presented at the TADTE-2019 exhibition. The mock-up was armed with a 76-mm OTO Melara AU in the bow, two Phalanx missiles (one in the bow, the second in the stern above the hangar), two four-container launchers, probably for TC-2N missiles and anti-ship missiles "Hsiung Feng-2" and/or "Hsiung Feng-3". The project provides for a large helipad and a hangar.
