Firearms are one of the few areas where there is little use of electronics. But that's for now. Yesterday, April 11, the portal thefirearmblog.com He reported that the American company Radetec officially presented a serial sample of the kit for turning the Glock 17 into a "smart" weapon.
The Smart Slide system includes the Glock 17 pistol's slide frame, which integrates a microcomputer, screen, and control buttons. Paired with special feeders that are installed in the regular pistol magazines, this forms a system of so-called "smart" weapons, giving the shooter a number of additional features. At the same time, the electronics do not affect the ability to fire even when the battery is low.

With Smart Slide, the shooter can see the number of rounds in the magazine, whether the cartridge is in the chamber, and also keep a general record of the weapon's firing. Radetec points out that the installation of the Smart Slide does not require any intervention in the design of the weapon, but to install the kit, it asks the owners to transfer the weapon to the enterprise.
Smart Slide is the first production model of firearm electronics from Radetec. The Spanish company opened a representative office in the United States in 2012 and has been presenting its developments at weapons shows since 2013. Smart Slide for the Glock 17 will be released in a limited edition of 1,000 copies for $1,000 per set with the installation. Radetec collects pre-orders from those wishing to purchase the Smart Slide, and in the fall of this year will begin installing the kit on the Glock 17 pistols of the fourth generation.
