Moscow. April 12. INTERFAX-Roscosmos spends about 3 billion rubles a year on the maintenance of the Vostochny cosmodrome, Maxim Ovchinnikov, the first Deputy General Director of the state corporation for Economics and Finance, said in an interview with Interfax.
"Part of the costs is included in the cost of launch services, additional funding is about 3 billion rubles. There is one launch pad, plus the city and the crew at the spaceport, which should always be there. Accordingly, the amount of costs for the maintenance of facilities will grow as the number of facilities that will be put into operation there increases, " Ovchinnikov said.
"At the same time, we optimize the objects so that they are not empty later. Where it is possible to combine objects under several starting tables, this will be done, " he added.
According to the public procurement portal, 2.7 billion rubles were allocated for the maintenance of the cosmodrome infrastructure in 2019, and 2.249 billion rubles in 2018.
Vostochny is the youngest cosmodrome in Russia. The first launch from the cosmodrome was carried out in 2016. In total, during the entire operation of the cosmodrome, seven launches of the Soyuz family of launch vehicles were carried out here. At the moment, the construction of the second stage facilities is underway at the cosmodrome, which will allow launching the Angara family of missiles from it.
