The Military Transport Aviation Command conducted a research flight-tactical exercise on the basis of one of the VTA aviation regiments stationed in the Southern Military District as part of a control check following the results of the winter training period.
The exercise was conducted under the leadership of the head of combat training of the VTA, Colonel Ivan Zolotko.
The purpose of the exercise was to study the capabilities of existing and incoming aircraft models when they are used over difficult mountainous terrain.
Within the framework of the event, the relocation of aviation equipment to the operational airfield and new non-standard tactical techniques of the VTA units and units when performing combat training tasks in the specified area were worked out.
The flights were conducted at an altitude of 4 to 10 thousand meters. They involved IL-76md-90a, An-124-100, A-50u, An-12, Il-22, etc. The crews practiced piloting techniques in mountainous terrain, communication and aircraft control issues, search and detection of landing sites, aiming and tactical (conditional) landing, as well as search and rescue tasks in mountainous terrain, the main military department said.
"As a result of the exercise, all the tasks were completed in full, which proves the professionalism and high training of each member of the military transport aviation crew," said Colonel Ivan Zolotko.
