A new Russian multi-purpose Mi-38 helicopter has arrived at the Arkhangelsk Vaskovo airport. It will be tested in conditions of natural icing.
All events will be recorded by sensors, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Arkhangelsk region reports. According to Igor Klevantsev, the head of the Mi-38 test team, a leading first-class flight test engineer, the sensors are fixed to the fuselage. The first will record the level of potential icing, the second-meteorological conditions, and the third will be sent to the equipment that fights icing at all nodes of the helicopter. All this data will be needed in order to issue the certification of the Mi-38.
Tests in conditions of natural icing, and this is a very dangerous phenomenon, because of which both the machine itself and the pilots can suffer, will last for several weeks. After that, the Mi-38 will go to the Moscow region to the place of permanent deployment.
"RG" has already written that the new helicopter with improved technical characteristics will also be offered for export. The Mi-38 can carry up to seven tons of cargo on an external suspension. The helicopter has already set several world records: it rose to an altitude of eight kilometers and flew at a speed of 320 kilometers per hour. The car will be assembled in Kazan.
