NAKHABINO (Moscow region), 9 Apr-RIA Novosti. The latest heavy robotic mine-clearing system is being developed in the interests of the Russian Armed Forces, the Defense Ministry told reporters.
Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu on Friday checked the implementation of the state defense order of JSC "766 Department of Production and Technological Equipment" (UPTK), which develops and produces robotic systems for various purposes.
"The head of the engineering troops, Lieutenant General Alexander Stavitsky, informed that at present, in addition to the "Uran-6", which is already being delivered to the troops, development work is underway to create heavy mine-clearing robots. The new complexes will be designed to clear the area from significantly more powerful anti-tank mines, " the ministry said.
According to the Ministry of Defense, " in 2022, the first prototypes of the new product are expected to be released."
The Russian army is currently supplied with the Uranus line of robots: the Uranus-6 mine-clearing robot, the Uranus-14 fire-fighting robot and the Uranus-9 strike robot.
