As reported by TSAMTO, the ceremony of cutting the first steel for the destroyer "Harvey C. Barnum" (Harvey C. Barnum, Jr.) took place on May 17, 2018. The contract for its construction was signed in June 2013. The DDG-124 is expected to enter service in 2024. "Harvey S. Barnum" will be the last destroyer of the current version of the Fly-2A (Flight IIA).
The Arleigh Burke-class destroyers are multi-purpose warships designed to handle a wide range of tasks in peacetime and wartime, including crisis management, maritime dominance, and military force projection.
The ship is capable of delivering missile and artillery strikes against ship groups and ground targets, fighting enemy submarines, providing fire support to the Armed Forces units in the coastal zone, as well as performing command and control tasks, air / missile defense.
The last of the US Navy destroyers built by General Dynamics Bath Iron Works on 8 March 2021 was transferred (DDG-118) to the Arleigh Burke-class Daniel Inue.
