Land formations and units of the Far Eastern Military District (Far Eastern Military District) are reinforced with modern T-80BVM tanks. These combat vehicles, in particular, first entered service with the motorized rifle division stationed in the Khabarovsk Territory. Several dozen T-80BVMS were delivered to its garrisons by rail. The Far East prepared for the reception of equipment in advance - in the parks they equipped places for storing and servicing new tanks.
The crews of combat vehicles have been trained in a special course, including on modern computer simulators. They help not only to master driving and shooting from the T-80BVM, but also create a virtual picture of various types of combat. On these simulators, tankers learn how to act correctly on the march, in the offensive and defense. The press service of the Far Eastern Military District clarified that as soon as the new equipment is accepted and serviced in the division, the T-80BVM will be brought to the test site for "running-in" and solving combat training tasks.
These tanks have been supplied to the armed forces since 2019. In August last year, ten vehicles were delivered to the Kantemirovskaya division near Moscow. This was the second batch of such armored vehicles in the compound. Strictly speaking, the T-80BVM can not be called a completely new tank. It is known that as a result of the modernization of the basic "eighty", all its main characteristics were increased, including firepower, security, mobility and controllability. The range of firing of various types of ammunition during the day, at night and in conditions of limited visibility has also increased.
The improved T-80BVM was equipped with a weapon stabilizer and a fully domestic gunner's sight "Sosna-U" with sighting, thermal imaging and rangefinder channels, as well as with a missile control channel. The 46-ton machine was equipped with a 125-mm gun and a modified gas turbine engine GTD-1250. Due to this, in particular, the fuel consumption during the operation of the power plant in the parking lot, when the fire control system is turned on, has been reduced.
The tank's driver-mechanic had his own TVN - 5 surveillance device. The new ultra-short-wave radio station "Aqueduct"provides increased command control there. For greater survivability in combat, the car was equipped with three types of protection: a complex of modular dynamic protection "Relict", anti-cumulative lattice screens and an active protection system "Arena-M".
