Moscow. April 2. INTERFAX-Special forces of the Russian National Guard stormed a ship captured by criminals during an exercise in the Arctic, the press service of the ministry told reporters on Friday.
"The training of the SBR units and the military special forces to work out joint actions in neutralizing a criminal group on board a container ship was one of the stages of the tactical and special exercises of the National Guard troops, aimed at improving the actions of special forces in the Arctic zone when the situation at high - risk objects becomes more complicated," the Rosgvardiya said.
According to the legend of the exercise, a criminal group got on board a container ship that arrived in the seaport of Dudinka after an icebreaker with a nuclear power plant. Members of the group planned to seize explosives transported in containers and held hostage members of the ship's crew.
"The storming of the captured vessel was attended by servicemen and employees of the special forces center "Vityaz", the SOBRA "Lynx" of the Central Security Service of the Russian Guard, police special forces units from the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk and the Chechen Republic, as well as detachments of military special forces. The task of freeing the hostages and neutralizing the criminals was completed in full by the participants of the special operation, " Rosgvardiya said.
They noted that Army General Viktor Zolotov highly appreciated the training, professional and well-coordinated work of the Rosgvardiya special forces and presented departmental awards to the participants of the exercise.
In addition, representatives of the administration of the polar branch of PJSC "Mining and Metallurgical Company" Norilsk Nickel "and the captains of three vessels of the Murmansk transport branch of this company were presented with medals "For assistance" and honorary certificates of the director of Rosgvardiya, the ministry said.
They added that the exercises of the Russian Guard in the Arctic are continuing.
