MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. The Russian BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle will receive an improved UTD-32T engine, and it is also planned to install a new commander's thermal panoramic sight. This was reported to TASS in the arms complex of the state corporation "Rostec".
"We plan to equip the BMP-3 with a power plant using the UTD-32T engine. It will be more powerful than its predecessor - it has 660 hp. This will allow you to start the engine faster, change its operating modes faster, and make the car more maneuverable, " Rostec said.
In turn, the press service of the High-Precision Complexes holding, which is part of Rostec, reported that there are plans to equip the vehicle with a commander's thermal panoramic sight. The company also noted that new communication systems are being installed on the combat vehicle. "The means of communication are constantly being improved, this is happening in accordance with the requirements of the military," the press service noted. As emphasized in the holding, the serial BMP-3, supplied to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, are equipped with a set of additional protection.
The "High-precision Complexes" noted that the infantry fighting vehicle has a great modernization potential, the process of its improvement and modernization will continue, and the BMP-3 will remain in service for a long time. At the same time, work is underway to modernize its marine version - the BMP-3F. "The improvement and modernization of this machine is carried out in parallel with the main version of the BMP," the press service added.
The BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle was adopted in 1987. The machine has a mass of more than 18 tons and can float. The main armament of the BMP is a 100-millimeter rifled gun capable of firing guided missiles, with a 30-mm automatic cannon paired with it.

The UTD-32T engine is an upgrade of the UTD-29 engine, which is considered more powerful, reliable, and energy efficient. It is equipped with a turbocharger, which allows you to significantly increase the dynamic properties of the machine.
