The Hungarian Air Force has rejected the Russian Mi-8T helicopter. A few days ago, the last flight of the car of this model took place from the Solnok air base.
The fleet of Mi-8T helicopters has already been decommissioned. They are being replaced with light multi-purpose H145M German special forces, writes "Military Review". And lots of these rotorcraft are already arriving in Solnok. A total of 20 will receive them, spending 318 million euros.
As for the Mi-8T helicopters, Hungary has purchased 65 of them. They were put in the period from 1969 to 1975. In 2011, Finland presented two cars, and three years later bought three more repaired helicopters from the Russian Federation. The Mi-8T, which made its last flight in Solnok, was one of the last.
In addition to the Mi-8T, Hungary will also disable the Mi-17, five of them. The process is planned to be completed by 2025. The Mi-17 will be replaced by French multi-purpose twin-engine Airbus Helicopters H225M medium-class helicopters. A total of 16 cars were ordered, the first one will arrive in 2023.
