According to a TASS source, the repair and modernization of the Admiral Vinogradov BOD will begin in 2021
MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. The large anti-submarine ship (BOD) of Project 1155 "Admiral Vinogradov "of the Pacific Fleet (TOF), following the example of a similar BOD" Marshal Shaposhnikov", will become a frigate by 2025, having received Kalibr-NK cruise missiles to increase its strike capabilities. This was reported to TASS on Tuesday by a source in the military-industrial complex.
"It is assumed that the repair and modernization of the Admiral Vinogradov BOD will begin in 2021 with the return to the fleet in 2024-2025," he said.
According to the source, the line for the modernization of the Project 1155 BOD into frigates - and there are now five such ships in the Russian Navy, not counting the Marshal Shaposhnikov and Admiral Vinogradov-will continue.
TASS has no official information on this matter.
Earlier it was reported that the upgraded frigate "Marshal Shaposhnikov" after testing will return to the combat structure of the Pacific Fleet until the end of 2021. As the press service of the Pacific Fleet informed, at the end of December 2020, "Marshal Shaposhnikov" during the tests for the first time launched an anti-ship cruise missile "Uran". The launches of other types of missiles, which the frigate received for service during the modernization, have not yet been reported.
During the modernization of the BPC "Marshal Shaposhnikov" was reclassified as a frigate, that is, it became a universal ship capable of fighting ground, surface and underwater targets. The frigate received modern Kalibr-NK, Uran and the latest artillery weapons. In particular, it now carries two universal ship firing systems for 16 Kalibr-NK and Onyx cruise missiles, and in the future - Zircon. Thus, the firepower of the ship in comparison with the original purpose has increased several times.
