Washington. March 29. Interfax-Two long-range anti-submarine aircraft of the Russian Navy Tu-142 flew near Alaska on Monday, the Joint Aerospace Defense Command of North America (NORAD) said.
"NORAD has positively identified and tracked two Russian Tu-142 anti-submarine patrol aircraft that entered the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ)," the report said.
At the same time, it is indicated that the Russian aircraft were in international airspace and did not enter the sovereign airspace of the United States or Canada.
The British Royal Air Force on Monday reported that its Typhoon fighters from the rapid reaction force urgently flew to "intercept" two Russian long-range anti-submarine patrol Tu-142 aircraft that flew near the United Kingdom over the North Sea.
The Belgian Air Force also reported that these two Russian Tu-142 long-range anti-submarine aircraft flew over the neutral waters of the North Sea near the Netherlands.
Earlier on Monday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that two Russian Tu-160 strategic bombers flew over the Barents and Norwegian Seas.
"Two long-range Tu-160 strategic missile carriers performed a planned flight in the airspace over the neutral waters of the Barents and Norwegian Seas. The flight duration was more than 8 hours, " the Russian Defense Ministry said.
