At the request of the Engineering Department of Rosgvardiya, experimental design work is being carried out to ensure the actions of the reconnaissance and mine clearance groups. As reported in the Federal Service of the National Guard of the Russian Federation, within their framework, the Krasnodar Instrument Factory "Cascade" on the basis of the armored bus "Federal-M" created a prototype of a special engineering vehicle SIM-4.
This model of equipment is intended for the implementation of engineering reconnaissance and escort of military columns. It is used to search for and detect explosive devices while driving.
On board there is equipment capable of effectively blocking radio signals sent by the enemy to trigger remotely controlled explosive devices.
The SIM-4 protects the crew, the reconnaissance and mine-clearing teams from small arms fire, as well as from shrapnel and other damaging factors.
On the roof there is the possibility of installing a machine gun, the personnel behind the armor can fire through the loopholes.
According to the materials published at the International Military-Technical Forums "Army", the design elements of the Ural-4320 all-terrain vehicle, popular among the security forces, were used in the development of the Federal-M.
The armored car can accommodate up to 16 fully equipped military personnel. The engine is 270 hp. The maximum speed on the highway is up to 85 km/h. The power reserve is 1,100 kilometers.
