MOSCOW, March 25. /TASS/. New aircraft can be created in the future on the basis of the military transport IL-76, which made its first flight in 1971. This was stated by the first Deputy General Director of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), Managing Director of PJSC "IL" Sergey Yarkov.
"We are confident about the future. The use of new design methods and modern production technologies make it possible to further effectively modernize the aircraft and create on its basis aircraft of various purposes, special aviation complexes that meet all Russian and international requirements, " Yarkov said.
Since the first flight of the IL-76, about 1 thousand aircraft in 22 modifications have been produced. Now representatives of the family are operated in 24 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and North America.
The most modern version of the IL-76 is the IL-76MD-90A (first flight in 2012), and the IL-78M-90A tanker is also produced on this platform (first flight in 2018). These aircraft can be operated anywhere in the world, including the Arctic and Antarctica.
