TSAMTO, March 25. Eight upgraded BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicles entered service with motorized rifle units of the Guards Tank Division of the Central Military District, stationed in the Chelyabinsk region.
The upgraded combat vehicles will add to the armament fleet of the motorized rifle battalions of the tank regiments of the compound.
Unlike the models of earlier modifications, the BMP-2M has an automatic fire control system that allows the commander and gunner to act as a single unit during the day and at night. The new R-168 "Aqueduct" radio station is installed on the received infantry fighting vehicles, which is able to work steadily in the conditions of electronic influence from the enemy.
The BMP-2M is designed to transport military personnel to the front line on the battlefield, increasing their mobility, armament and security.
The Guards Vitebsk-Novgorod Double Red Banner Tank Division of the Central Military District was formed on December 1, 2016. It consists of 3 tank, motorized rifle and self-propelled artillery regiments, an anti-aircraft missile division, a reconnaissance and engineer-sapper battalion, units and divisions of combat, logistics and technical support, the press service of the Central Military District reports.
