The changes made to the contract provide for the construction (from an option) of one additional multi-purpose nuclear submarine of the Virginia class Block.5 with the VPM payload Module (Virginia Payload Module).
The agreement is worth $ 2.417 billion. At the same time, $ 1.89 billion is intended to finance the construction of an additional SSN-811 version of the Block submarine. 5. The remaining funds will be used to complete the financing of the construction of SSN-807 under the previously concluded contract. The actual volume of the contract increase is $ 1.89 billion.
Under the agreement, Electric Boat Corp. will subcontract contracts with Huntington Ingalls Industries - Newport News Shipbuilding. At the moment, the US Navy has received 18 nuclear submarines of the Virginia class.
