In the United States, they analyzed the capabilities of the Russian AK-104 submachine gun. At the same time, the weapon was tested at the test site.
AmmoLand calls the AK-104 "an interesting beast." At the same time, it is noted that the machine is a "slightly stripped-down version" of the modernized "hundredth series" submachine guns with a polymer butt for a 7.62 x 39 mm cartridge.
"Despite this, there is something mysterious about it that makes it desirable for shooters who love modern Russian firearms," writes the author of the publication, one of the "elite editors" of the publication, Jim Grant, who shot two magazines with an AK-104.
He notes that for the uninitiated, the "hundredth series" submachine guns may seem functionally identical to the AKM, which participated in conflicts on almost all continents of the Earth. However, this weapon is still different from its predecessor.
"The purpose of these submachine guns was to make the AK a lighter and more convenient firearm," writes AmmoLand. In particular, the readers ' attention is drawn to the polymer magazines reinforced with steel, folding butts, "which, due to their simplicity and rarity in the United States, have become very desirable", increased strength, corrosion resistance.
"Although my experience with the new AK-104 was limited to two magazines, I am definitely impressed," the author of the material admits.
He notes the smoothness and accuracy of shooting, the absence of any malfunctions, and also draws attention to the fact that the recoil of the AK-104 was slightly more than that of the AK-103.
"Hopefully in the near future I will have the opportunity to take a few hundred more shots to give a more complete view, but for now I am amazed. This is definitely an AK option that I would like to add to my collection, " concludes Jim Grant.
