Moscow. March 19. INTERFAX-The creation of a modern base for submarines of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Federation in Vilyuchinsk will be completed this year, said the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Nikolai Evmenov.
"By the end of 2021, it is planned to complete the construction and put into operation all the facilities of the base in Vilyuchinsk,"he said in an interview with the Russian Defense Ministry's newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda.
Evmenov said that in Vilyuchinsk, in accordance with the peculiarities of the Kamchatka Peninsula, new technologies have been introduced to ensure high seismic stability of objects.
In Vilyuchinsk, in particular, the nuclear-powered strategic missile cruisers Alexander Nevsky and Vladimir Monomakh are based.
Yevmenov also said that the creation of a modern base for the submarine forces of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Federation in Gadzhievo has been completed.
The submarine forces of the Northern Fleet are considered the most powerful association of nuclear submarines of the Russian Navy. On January 1, 2021, the Northern Fleet of Russia received the status of a military district.
"The Baltic Fleet has reconstructed more than 70 percent of the mooring front for surface ships and submarines," the commander-in-chief said.
"It is planned that by the end of the year, all work on the creation of a basing system in Novorossiysk in the area of the Geoport will be completed," the commander - in-chief said.
The headquarters of the Project 636.3 diesel submarine brigade of the Black Sea Fleet is located in Novorossiysk.
