During the exercises in Kamchatka, the military personnel of the radiation chemical and biological protection unit made the positions of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems invisible to aviation and radar radars.
For the first time, using the special equipment of the TDA-3 smoke machines, military chemists organized a thermal smoke disguise and hid anti-aircraft missiles for several hours with a solid stationary aerosol curtain. Under this cover, the calculations of the "four hundred" not only hid from the intelligence of the imaginary enemy, but also disguised the reserve positions of the division, and also hid from tracking and a possible strike with high-precision weapons a column of military equipment during its movement.
"During the exercise, a total of about 4 thousand liters of smoke mixture and its components were used, the method of working calculations at negative temperatures in the field was worked out," the press service of the Pacific Fleet reported.
The TDA-3 smoke machine is a truly unique camouflage technique. It is able to protect against" scanning " not only people and equipment, but even large objects, such as headquarters or warehouses. Turning smoke mixtures and powders into special aerosols, this equipment creates a kind of film over the protected area, through which not only ordinary visual reconnaissance means, but even infrared rays do not break through. To keep such a veil over people, equipment and objects TDA-3 can be from four to eight hours.
The main difference between this machine and its analogues is that it has a portable control panel for the curtain setting equipment and a reduced calculation of the TDA-3: two people are enough to service it. Moreover, the curtain itself can be both horizontal and raised. The latter is used, for example, to mask bridges.
I must say that the use of special equipment and aerosols to disguise troops has been practiced in the Russian Army for several years. For example, a few years ago, during the exercises near Samara, military chemists disguised the positions of the operational-tactical missiles "Tochka-U"in this way.
Another time, in the Southern Military District, an entire army airfield became the target of a disguise. To cover it, military chemists put an aerosol smoke screen with a height of more than 300 meters and an area of more than 20 hectares. This made it possible to "hide" the runway, aircraft parking lots and other aviation infrastructure from radar and visual surveillance. As a result, both the airfield and the surrounding area disappeared for three hours from the radars and radar screens installed on the aircraft.
