The Turkish 11-ton T929 attack helicopter (Atak II) will receive a two-chamber turboshaft engine with a capacity of 2.5 thousand horsepower of Ukrainian production, Defense News reports, referring to the statement of the head of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) Temel Kotil.
According to him, the first flight of the T929 is scheduled for 2023. The head did not disclose details about the power plant for the helicopter.
The CEO also said that the cost of one Turkish fifth-generation fighter Turkish Fighter X (TF-X), which is being worked on in TAI, will be about $ 100 million. Kotil noted that the first flight of the aircraft should take place in 2025, and in 2029 it is planned to adopt the Turkish Air Force (Air Force).
It is planned to produce two TF-X units per month. TAI's annual revenue from the program is estimated at $ 2.4 billion. According to Cotil, the company he heads has 1,000 of its 4,000 engineers working on TF-X.
In March, the publication 19FortyFive said that the possible appearance of a Russian fifth-generation Su-57 fighter in Turkey would be a NATO nightmare. Thus, the publication commented on the March statement of the press secretary of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of Russia, Valery Reshetnikov, which spoke of Russia's readiness to supply Su-35 and Su-57 fighters to Turkey, as well as to cooperate with Ankara on the TF-X project.
In September 2020, Defense News wrote that Ukraine and Turkey are seeking to deepen their military-technical cooperation, which was the subject of negotiations held in late August of the same year in Ankara.
