The crews of the long-range aviation of the Aerospace Forces (VKS) of the Russian Federation have refueled the Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers with fuel in the airspace, the Ministry of Defense reported on Sunday, March 14.
The pilots practiced refueling from the IL-78 tanker aircraft. This task was carried out by the crews of the Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers at an altitude of more than 6 thousand meters. m and a speed of about 600 km / h. They also carried out air patrols in a given area and tactical missile launches against specified targets.
"The peculiarity of this flight shift is that it was performed in low temperature conditions. Both experienced crew members and young officers were involved in the flights, " said the commander of the Guard's long-range aviation unit, Major General Oleg Pchela.
In total, five Tu-95MS and Il-78 aircraft were involved in the flights. In addition, more than 30 units of automotive and special equipment were involved.
On March 3, in Kamchatka, the pilots worked out assistance to ships in distress. Ka-27 helicopters flew to the scene of the "accident". The crew worked out actions in the conditions of difficult terrain.
