The Russian army is developing a new type of military equipment. Yesterday, March 10, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on its official YouTube channel published a video of the first regular firing of combat vehicles supporting the Terminator tanks.
"In the Chelyabinsk region, at the training ground of the Guards Tank Division of the Central Military District, the first regular firing of modern combat vehicles supporting the Terminator tanks has been completed. The firing of the standard armament complex of the BMPT, which includes two 30-mm 2A42 automatic guns, a 7.62-mm Kalashnikov tank machine gun and AG-17D automatic grenade launchers, took place at a specially prepared site of the training ground on updated targets," the video description says.

As an independent type of combat vehicle, the BMPT was developed in the USSR in the mid-80s after studying the experience of combat operations in Afghanistan. The specifics of that war clearly showed the need to be armed with special armored vehicles — at the same time mobile, maneuverable and rapid-fire, which would be able to provide fire cover for tanks, as well as protect them from grenade launchers. To date, several variants of the BMPT have been developed, including those based on the T-72 and T-90 tanks.
