In December 2020, the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Alexey Krivoruchko said that the production capacity of the Sevmash plant is fully loaded with orders until 2027. Sevmash will annually transfer to the Russian Navy one new nuclear submarine of the Borey-A and Yasen-M projects. "It is planned to build 14 submarines," Boreyev "and" Ash", - said Krivoruchko.
In February, in an interview with Interfax, the head of the USC said that the Kazan, the lead nuclear submarine of the Yasen-M project, will soon be ready for transfer to the Russian Navy.
"Kazan" is at the stage of finishing and revision of mechanisms. Judge for yourself: the boat has been tested for 2.5 years, and we are already approaching the first service interval, when the mechanical part is usually repaired. To date, we do not see any issues that would require any more long-term tests, " Rakhmanov said on February 4.
As previously reported by a source of "Interfax", the submarine is planned to be included in the Russian Navy in the first half of 2021. "Kazan" was launched in 2017. The deadline for completing the tests was repeatedly postponed.
