Foreign "rivals" of the Russian operational-tactical missile system (OTRK) "Iskander-E" are the American MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile System (ATacMS), the Israeli complex with a long-Range Artillery Missile (LORA) and the Chinese SY-400 with BP-12A missiles, Izvestia writes.
The latter in the publication is called the actual "direct competitor" of Russian weapons. "A potential competitor of the Russian complex may be its almost complete analogue, reproduced in the DPRK," the newspaper writes, recalling that " due to international sanctions, full-fledged competition on its part is not expected soon."
The publication notes that its own OTRK is being developed in Turkey. In particular, KHAN is mentioned, acting as an export version of Bora. "There is also a less advanced J-600T Yıldırım complex in Turkey, which, under certain conditions, can also occupy its niche in the market and compete with our system," the newspaper says.
The publication notes that the long-range multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) B-200 "Polonaise"is being produced in Belarus on the basis of the Chinese A-200 complex. "Finally, the new long-range MLRS are becoming more and more serious competitors to the OTRK as a whole," the newspaper notes.
In November 2020, The Drive reported that a few hours before the conclusion of the ceasefire agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Yerevan used the Iskander missile system for the first time.
In October of the same year, the same publication wrote that Azerbaijan for the first time used an operational-tactical missile system with a single-stage solid-fuel ballistic missile LORA, developed by the Israeli company Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI).
