The Polish company Mesko SA has started to supply the national armed forces with another batch of several hundred missiles and launchers for Piorun portable anti-aircraft systems.
Piorun MANPADS have been supplied to the Polish Army since 2018. These missiles can hit targets at a range of up to 6.5 km and at an altitude of up to 4 km. Currently, they can be used both in a portable version, and on Poprad and Pilica anti-aircraft systems.
At the Mesko SA plant, work is currently underway to increase the production capacity of Piorun missiles. The concept of the new Piorun-2 missiles has also been developed. They will use a dual guidance system-with a multispectral infrared warhead and a laser beam at the initial stage of the flight.
