Moscow. February 19. INTERFAX-The United Engine Corporation (UEC) together with the Central Institute of Aviation Engine Building named after Baranov (CIAM) will create a digital twin of the AI-222-25 aircraft engine installed on the Yak-130 combat training aircraft, the press service of the UEC reports.

"The digital twin of the AI-222-25 aircraft engine will be used for conducting virtual experiments. The implementation of the project is designed for two years, " the report said on Friday.

The report quotes the words of Yuri Shmotin, Deputy General Director - General Designer of UEC JSC, who noted that a reliable engine with a well - studied design-AI-222-25-was chosen to create a digital double. This allows you to fully take into account the parameters of the models created for the digital twin, as well as automate the processes of their modification, analysis and interaction.

"The digital twin allows you to structure design based on various platforms, including those that are being developed. We expect to receive a digital twin of the AI-222-25 engine in two years, " said Shmotin.

According to the General director of CIAM Mikhail Gordin, who is referred to by the press service, the digital twin of the aircraft engine includes a large number of models of different levels of complexity, degree of development and analysis disciplines.

"At the same time, due to the complexity of the design and operating conditions of the engine, quality control and confirmation of compliance with the created and applied mathematical models become relevant. At the current stage of technology development, mathematical modeling does not replace full-scale tests, but complements them, simultaneously enriching the results of experiments, " said the General Director of CIAM.

It is reported that the project participant is also the Competence Center of NTI SPbPU "New Production Technologies", which has already implemented a project to reduce the weight of the TV7-117ST-01 aircraft engine based on digital twin technology.

"The work will take place within the framework of a new design paradigm with the use of CML-Bench - a digital platform for the development and application of digital doubles and a system for managing activities in the field of computer engineering," the report says.
