Moscow. February 19. INTERFAX-A robot battle tank can be created on the Armata heavy tracked platform, but it will not be mass-produced, said Bekhan Ozdoev, industrial director of the Rostec weapons complex.
"From the T-14, you can make an autonomous combat robot - a large and powerful unmanned tank. We have already tried him in this role, " Ozdoev said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper.
"Of course, the T-14 will not be mass-produced in an unmanned version and is rather used for testing the relevant technologies. However, this clearly demonstrates the height of the bar that we have set for ourselves, " said the top manager of Rostec.
He believes that a tank similar to the Russian T-14 "Armata" will not soon appear in other countries.
"In addition to good protection and firepower, this machine is distinguished by its "intelligence" - a high level of automation, which gives the crew more opportunities on the battlefield. Many things, including the search for goals, the equipment does itself, " said Ozdoev.
As reported by Interfax, the Armata platform was developed by the Uralvagonzavod concern (UVZ, part of Rostec) as a base for the main battle tank, heavy infantry fighting vehicle and armored repair and evacuation vehicle. Armored vehicles on the Armata platform are being tested.
The T-14 is the world's only tank of the third post-war generation. According to military experts, "Armata" is a new word in tank construction, has no analogues in the world. This is a fundamentally new and completely Russian development. The T-14 tower is uninhabited. For the first time, the crew is placed in an armored capsule, separated from the ammunition.
