MOSCOW, February 19. /TASS/. The Baltic shipbuilding plant " Yantar "(part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) has submitted proposals to the Russian Defense Ministry on how to complete the project 11356 frigate"Admiral Kornilov". This was announced in an interview with TASS by the general director of the company Ilya Samarin.
"The relevant proposals were presented to the Deputy Minister of Defense Alexey Yuryevich Krivoruchko during his visit to the Yantar in October. A number of areas in which the ship [the frigate of Project 11356 "Admiral Kornilov"] could be completed have been completed, " he said.
It was planned to build six frigates of Project 11356 for the Black Sea Fleet. Yantar built and transferred 3 ships to the Navy. Three hulls were launched, but they were left without Ukrainian-made engines. Later, a contract was signed for the completion of the 4th and 5th hulls for the Indian Navy, which purchased the necessary engines in Ukraine. The fate of the 6th corps has not yet been decided.
According to Samarin, " we are extremely interested that this ship has a master, either it will be a foreign customer, or it will be - and we would very much like it - our Navy."
"The ship's hull is formed. If the issue of the main power plant is resolved, it could be built further. We are waiting for the decision of the Ministry of Defense," he added.
Russian frigates of Project 11356 are carriers of Kalibr-NK cruise missiles.
