TSAMTO, February 18. The Ministry of Defense of Japan has published an annual request within the framework of the defense budget for 2021-2022 (April 2021 – March 2022) for the purchase of weapons and military equipment.
As Scramble Magazine clarifies, since various budget items are still preliminary requests and require parliamentary approval, the actual number of purchases and the amount of expenditures can still be adjusted.
The publication publishes excerpts from the section on the purchase of aircraft in the request for 2021-2022 f.g.:
- development of the electronic warfare aircraft based on the Kawasaki C-2;
- purchase of Kawasaki S-2 military transport aircraft (2 units).);
- purchase of F-35A fighters with related equipment (4 units).);
- purchase of F-35B fighters with related equipment (4 units).);
- purchase of UH-60J II helicopters (5 units).);
- modernization of the F-15 fighters;
- modernization of F-2 fighters (integration of RCC);
- development of the F-X fighter project;
- purchase of Kawasaki S-1 military transport aircraft (3 units).);
- program for extending the service life of the P-3C BPA aircraft (4 units).);
- conversion of one SH-60K helicopter to a search and rescue version;
- extending the service life of the SH-60K (3 units).);
- purchase of the US-2 amphibious aircraft;
- reconstruction of the second Izumo-class destroyer for the use of the F-35B;
- purchase of UH-2 marine helicopters (7 units).);
- development of the infrastructure of the Saga air base for the use of V-22 Osprey convertiplanes.
