The AK-19 machine gun will be able to be loaded with NATO cartridges, RIA Novosti reports the statement of the general director of the Kalashnikov group of companies Dmitry Tarasov.
According to the manager, the first relevant application to the concern was received from foreign customers. "The AK-19 uses a 5.56 by 45 mm cartridge, adopted by NATO and widely distributed in the world. Thus, our newest machine is fully focused on the foreign market, " the CEO said.
The agency recalls that for the first time abroad, the AK-19 will be presented at the IDEX-2021 exhibition, which is scheduled for February 21-25 in Abu Dhabi.
In February, Tarasov said that the main task of the MP-155 Ultima smart gun, considered a "weapon for hipsters", is to attract "generation Z", which "was born with gadgets and can not think of itself without them."
In September 2019, the concern posted on YouTube a video of an extreme test of the AK-74M submachine gun, demonstrating the ability of the weapon to withstand the mode of non-stop firing in bursts.
The AK-19 is based on the AK-12, which was adopted by the Russian army in 2018.
