MOSCOW, February 15. /TASS/. The company "Barl" has started the production of ground infrastructure for the space group "Arctic-KN". This was announced by the general designer of JSC "NPK "Barl" Valery Labutin.
"The production of the ground infrastructure [of the Arctic-KN group] has begun, and the production of the load for this spacecraft has begun," Labutin said at a round table of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy on the prospects for commercial space programs.
As specified in the presentation of Labutin, the resolution of the satellites of the group will be 40 meters in the visible range and 60 meters in the IR range. The active life of the devices will be 8 years.
"The spacecraft will also be equipped with AIS equipment, which will allow you to receive information about the routes of ships," the presentation says.
In October 2020, the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, during a speech at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, spoke about plans to create a group of satellites "Arctic-KN" to monitor the waters of the Northern Sea Route. According to him, it will be able to receive information in various ranges and can be created within the framework of a public-private partnership.
