In Kerch, the newest watchdog got on the water
The solemn ceremony of launching the fourth of a series of patrol ships (PC) of the project 22160 "Sergey Kotov" took place at the shipyard "Bay". Its predecessors-PC "Vasily Bykov", "Dmitry Rogachev" and "Pavel Derzhavin" have already been tested and successfully solve the tasks.
The ceremony of launching the ship was attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Navy – First Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Admiral Alexander Vitko, Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksenov, commander of the Novorossiysk naval base Rear Admiral Viktor Kochemazov, Deputy Commander of the Black Sea Fleet for Armament Captain 1st Rank Valery Horun, First Deputy Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Yefim Fix, the leadership of the city of Kerch and the enterprises that created "Sergey Kotov".
The ship was named by order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy in honor of Rear Admiral of the USSR Navy, participant of the Great Patriotic War, Hero of the Soviet Union Sergey Nikolaevich Kotov.
The project 22160 created by JSC "Severnoye PKB" is a series of Russian patrol ships of the 3rd rank with guided missile weapons of the near and far sea zone. This modern ship is designed to protect territorial waters, patrol the economic zone in open and closed seas, prevent smuggling and piracy activities, search for and assist victims of maritime disasters, environmental monitoring of the environment, as well as to protect ships and vessels at sea crossing, naval bases and water areas in order to prevent enemy attacks in wartime.
"To equip the" Sergey Kotov " used mainly equipment and units of domestic production, including modern radar and navigation equipment ”
More than 40 ships and vessels will join the Russian Navy this year. Six of them are part of the Black Sea Fleet, Alexander Vitko, who commanded the Black Sea Fleet in 2013-2018, told reporters. Launched at the Kerch shipyard "Bay" patrol ship "Sergey Kotov", according to him, will become part of the Black Sea Fleet in November 2021.
Congratulating shipbuilders on a significant event, the Deputy General Director of the plant "Gulf" Nikolay Negrei noted that the ship launched is the result of joint work of shipbuilders of the Kerch plant "Gulf" and Zelenodolsk plant named after A.M. Gorky.
Two facts deserve special attention. First – during the construction, the shipbuilders managed to solve important problems of import substitution. To equip the ship, they mainly use equipment and units of domestic production, including modern radar and navigation equipment. And the second, very pleasant and significant moment for the Crimeans: "Sergey Kotov" is the second patrol ship born on the slipways of the reviving shipyard "Bay". The first was "Pavel Derzhavin". In this regard, the head of the Crimea Sergey Aksenov added that the plant " Bay " is provided with orders for three years.
It is pleasant that Kerch, as in Soviet times, regains its status as a city of shipbuilders. Recall that in July last year, the plant launched a small rocket ship "Cyclone" project 22800 – one of the three ships of this project, currently under construction at the enterprise. The project MRK 22800 with the code "Karakurt" – ships of the near sea zone with a displacement of about 800 tons and a developed complex of weapons, including guided missiles of several types.
It remains to add that after completing the completion work and passing state tests, the ship will join the Black Sea Fleet. To the predecessors of the "Sergei Kotov" – the ships "Vasily Bykov", "Dmitry Rogachev" and "Pavel Derzhavin" next year should be added PC "Victor the Great", and in 2023-m – "Nikolai Sipyagin". A series of patrol ships of Project 22160 with the names of Heroes of the Soviet Union will significantly strengthen the Black Sea Fleet. As well as new small rocket ships with a promising and already tested Kalibr complex. From January 30, there will be four of them in the fleet.
