The world's largest military-industrial and aerospace corporation, Lockheed Martin, showed the operation of the Mobile Radio Frequency-Integrated Unmanned Aircraft System Suppressor (MoRFIUS), designed to intercept a swarm of drones. The American company posted the corresponding video on Twitter.
According to the Defense Blog, MoRFIUS " uses powerful ultra-high frequency (microwave) technology to effectively and affordably shoot down dozens of drones from the sky in a short time." The publication notes that the US army is already testing this weapon as one of the air defense systems (air defense).
In July 2020, the head of the Department of Advanced interspecific Research and special projects of the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Sergei Pankov , said that in the near future, the Russian military expects a breakthrough in the field of advanced weapons systems, in particular, microwave.
In March 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a speech to the Federal Assembly , declared the country's leadership in creating " weapons based on new physical principles."
