Dubai. February 7. INTERFAX-If Washington wants Tehran to comply with its obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), they themselves must return to compliance with the norms of this document and lift anti-Iranian sanctions, the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, tweeted on Sunday.
"The party that has the right to set the conditions under the JCPOA is Iran, since it was it that adhered to the obligations, and not the United States or the three European countries that violated their obligations," Ali Khamenei wrote.
"If they want Iran to return (to the nuclear deal), the US should lift the sanctions. We will confirm this, and if everything is done clearly, we will return to compliance with our obligations, " he continued.
Earlier, the head of the administration of the President of Iran Mahmoud Vaezi said: "We did not leave the JCPOA, and therefore we do not need to return to it. We will honor our commitments under the JCPOA when we are convinced of the commitment of the United States and Europe to the deal."
"The agreement on the deal was reached by us during the negotiations, and the issue is closed. Regardless of whether the administration rules in the United States - Trump or Biden, our position on the JCPOA will remain unchanged: President Hassan Rouhani said that when they (the United States and European countries) return to fulfilling their obligations, we will also comply with ours, " Vayezi stressed.
