MOSCOW, February 3 / Radio Sputnik. The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the agreement on the extension of the START treaty has entered into force, the Russian Federation and the United States exchanged relevant notes, according to the website of the diplomatic department.
It is specified that "the agreement will be valid in the form as it was signed, without any changes, additions, until February 5, 2026".
Moreover, Moscow hopes that the extension of the Treaty on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (STCW-3) will overcome the trend towards the breakdown of arms control mechanisms, and is ready to work together with the United States to strengthen global strategic stability, the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
The foreign Ministry assumes that "significant efforts will be required" in order to return the Russian-American dialogue in this area "to a stable trajectory, to achieve new major results that strengthen our national security and strategic stability in the world."
Before that, the Kremlin's press service said that Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a document on the extension of the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty (DSNV-3) for five years.
Earlier, Sputnik radio reported that Peskov called for a" sober assessment " of relations between the Russian Federation and the United States after the DSNV.
