Combat readiness exercises were conducted with the calculations of the operational and tactical missile systems of the Baltic Fleet.
At the alarm signal, the rocket men secretly moved to the designated position area in the Kaliningrad region. Having arrived at the site and equipped the launch positions, the Iskander-M OTRK crews performed electronic single and group launches on targets simulating missile launchers, airfields, protected objects and command posts of the simulated enemy.
After that, the servicemen worked out actions to change positions – in order to get out of the possible retaliatory strike, the head of the information support department of the press service of the Western Military District for the Baltic Fleet, Captain 1st Rank Roman Martov, told the Military-Industrial Courier.
As part of the exercises, the command of the missile compound from mobile command posts worked out the issues of covert control of units. And the calculations, according to the scenario, operated in the conditions of radiation and chemical contamination of the area. They also had to repel the attack of sabotage and reconnaissance groups – "saboteurs" were identified during the reconnaissance of the area with the help of a drone.
The Iskander-M OTRK is capable of hitting targets at ranges of up to 500 km with high accuracy. The complex is designed to destroy the most important enemy objects.
