Washington. January 30. INTERFAX-A group of four US B-52H Stratofortress strategic bombers has arrived at Andersen Air Base on the US island of Guam in the western Pacific Ocean, the US Pacific Air Force Command said.
The B-52H Stratofortress strategic bombers were sent to Guam from Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, the report said.
According to reports, amid the aggravation of relations between Washington and Beijing, one of them flew over the area of disputed waters and islands in the South China Sea, the rights to which China defends, before landing.
"Sending a task force of bombers to conduct exercises shows our ability to quickly deploy combat - ready power in any area where we need it," said Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Duff, commander of the 96th B-52H Bomber Squadron. The mission of our strategic bombers demonstrate the continued commitment to the application of global shocks. We remain ready to deploy anywhere in the world at any time."
Currently, a US Navy carrier strike group led by the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) is located in the South China Sea. According to the Indo-Pacific Command of the US Armed Forces, an aircraft carrier with combat guard ships was allegedly subjected to a conditional attack by Chinese Xian H-6 bombers off the coast of Taiwan last week. At the same time, the flights of Chinese bombers took place at a distance of more than 250 miles from the American aircraft carrier group and did not pose any threat to it.
Over the past year, the Pentagon has repeatedly defiantly deployed strategic bomber task forces to Guam on a temporary basis, as well as sent its warships to the South China Sea area.
