The Russian remote mine clearance vehicle "Foliage", created for the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN), will be equipped with a more powerful microwave gun during the modernization, which will increase the range of mine detonation, the state corporation"Rostec" told RIA Novosti.
The modernization of Listva is being carried out by the Krasnodar instrument plant "Cascade" of the holding company Roselektronika (part of Rostec).
"There are plans to modernize the microwave installation with an increase in pulse power by at least 5 MW. This will increase the range of destruction of explosive devices, " the state corporation told RIA Novosti, answering a question about expanding the capabilities of the Listva .
"Foliage" will also receive new control systems and lighting of the situation, added in Rostec.
"To create a new generation of equipment, solutions are being developed to create a trusted intelligent software and hardware management platform and an integrated multi-sensor subsystem. This will contribute to the formation of a unified information environment for the collection, processing and transmission of data for the combat mission, " the state corporation explained.
The unique " Foliage "is used in the Strategic Missile Forces to accompany the mobile strategic missile systems "Yars"and" Topol-M". The machine is able to detect explosive devices at a range of up to 100 meters, after which ultra-high-frequency radiation undermines them or disables their electronics.
"Foliage" is mounted on the basis of the armored car "Bulat". The complex has characteristic external features: a parabolic microwave antenna is installed on the roof of the car, and a search module similar to a fence is hung in the nose of the body. Depending on the task, the crew members of the "Foliage" can work outside the armored car, then they wear special suits that protect them from electromagnetic radiation.
