Reports of a fire on board the Russian aircraft carrier "Admiral Kuznetsov" do not correspond to reality. This was announced on Wednesday, January 27, by the head of the press service of the ship repair center "Zvezdochka" Yevgeny Gladyshev.
"There was a failure in the operation of the technological equipment, which did not lead to a fire and did not affect the course of work on the repair of the ship, "Gladyshev said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
On the eve of the mass media there was information that during gas welding on the ship allegedly exploded a tank of acetylene.
The Admiral Kuznetsov is currently undergoing repairs and modernization at the 35th Ship Repair Plant in Severomorsk.
The fire on the ship occurred in December 2019. Then two soldiers were killed, 14 more people were injured. A criminal investigation was opened into the incident.
As reported in the summer of 2020, the general director of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) Alexey Rakhmanov, intensive work was deployed on the aircraft carrier. Its transfer to the Russian Navy is still scheduled for 2022.
