At the end of 2020, the production of key engine components was started in a broad cooperation between the enterprises of UEC-MMP named after V. V. Chernyshev, which produces the axial compressor module, and UEC-UMPO, where the free turbine modules are assembled. Previously, parts were supplied only for the basic VK-2500 engines, and for the VK-2500P and VK-2500PS, they were refined at UEC-Klimov JSC.
"The use of components and parts and assembly units that correspond to the design appearance of the VK-2500P/PS engines will allow us to reduce labor costs that were previously required for their refinement, and direct resources to solving other production tasks, in particular, to increase the total output of the VK-2500 family of engines, "comments Alexey Rodionov, Production Director of UEC-Klimov JSC.
In 2021, it is planned to produce more than 70 VK-2500P/PS engines with parts produced by MMP named after V. V. Chernyshev and UEC-UMPO.
The first engine assembled using parts produced in the UEC cooperation was the VK-2500P engine, which successfully passed the state bench tests (GSI) in the fall of 2020. Then it was confirmed that the engine components meet the established requirements and the possibility of their mass production.
The VK-2500P and VK-2500PS engines differ from the basic version primarily by the use of a digital control system such as FADEC (electronic engine management system with full responsibility). The VK-2500P helicopter engine is the latest modification of the VK-2500 engine, installed on many machines of the Mi and Ka families and has improved characteristics. The power plant has an upgraded automatic control system and a protective system that restores the normal operation of the engine when it stops, when powder and exhaust gases enter and there is a surge.
From the bmpd side, we recallthat the VK-2500P engine is installed on the upgraded Mi-28NM combat helicopter, and the VK - 2500PS series engines are installed on the Mi-171A2 helicopters and are planned to be installed on a number of other types of helicopters of the Mi-8/17 and Ka-32 families.
