MOSCOW, January 19/ Radio Sputnik. The Iranian ground forces have begun to carry out large-scale exercises along the coast of Mekran in the south-east of the Islamic Republic, which received the code name Eqtedar 99 ("Force-99"), reports the portal EADaily.
It is known that within their framework, the Iranian military command set the task of " assessing the mobility and offensive power of the rapid reaction brigades and mobile offensive units of the Iranian Ground Forces."
Participating in the maneuvers, the airborne units, special forces and rapid reaction brigades of the Iranian army receive logistical and combat support from the Air Force and a separate airborne division of the ground forces in the coastal zones of the country, [...] local news agency Tasnim said.
Over the past few weeks, the Iranian armed forces have conducted several large-scale exercises in different parts of the country.
Earlier, Sputnik radio reported that Iran had launched ballistic missiles of various classes.
