"Today, a detachment of ships of the Northern Fleet as part of the new frigate" Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov "and the rescue tug" Nikolai Chiker " passed through the Strait of Gibraltar to the Mediterranean Sea," the press service reported.
"In the Mediterranean Sea, the frigate will perform a number of military and diplomatic tasks, as well as work out interaction with Russian ships. A number of business calls to the ports of the countries of the Mediterranean region are planned, " the report says.
The ship went on a cruise at the end of last year, before the start of the voyage, all sailors were vaccinated with the Russian vaccine "Sputnik V".
According to the Northern Fleet, in preparation for the campaign, the frigate's crew performed a set of combat training exercises in the Barents Sea, including several firing of Kalibr cruise missiles (OKB Novator, Almaz-Antey Concern).
Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov is the second frigate of Project 22350. The lead ship of this project, Admiral Gorshkov, was transferred to the Russian Navy in July 2018.
